Should It Be Legal
05:26
|
|||
Chorus: Should it be legal? I think so
Should it be legal? I don’t know
Should it be legal? No, no, no!
Should it be legal?
There are thousands round the country taking social drugs each day
They do it ‘cos they like it that’s for sure
There’s weed and speed and coke and E’s and ‘shrooms and poppers too
But in taking all of these we break the law
Should it be legal?
It’s hard to see the logic of it anyway you look
I can have a cig but I can’t have a joint
If I get caught in possession I can end up going to jail
Could someone please explain what is the point?
Chorus
It’s legal to drink alcohol to change the way we feel
The consequence can really be quite bad
We can kill ourselves with cigarettes and that’s within the law
Sometimes I think the world’s gone really mad
Should it be legal? Should it be legal?
I think I’ve got depression
It’s making me feel ill
Why not go to a doctor
And get yourself some pills
Because it’s legal !! Because it’s legal !!
A thousand folks a year get sent to jail because of this
Just who we are protecting gets confused
When a third of us have tried it out ourselves it seems quite clear
That the legislation isn’t any use
Should it be legal?
In Portugal and Uruguay they’ve let the tide come in
In many US states they’ve done it too
But we just act like King Canute
It’s really quite a joke
The war on drugs is lost, you know it’s true
Should it be legal? Should it be legal?
I think I’ve got depression
It’s making me feel ill
Why not go to a doctor
And get yourself some pills

Not Ready Yet
05:11
|
|||
There’s a guy just said on TV Arctic ice is in retreat
The polar bears will disappear `cos they’ll have nothing to eat
If global warming goes too far, we deserve all that we get
Yeah we’d like to save the planet……But we’re just not ready yet
They say a major problem is the use of energy
I know we’ve got a second car, but it’s not as bad as three
And we need to fly to Sunshine cos this weather makes us fret
But we’d like to save the planet…. We’re just not ready yet
They’re cutting down the rainforest, so we can grow more beef
But with obese humans everywhere, do we need more to eat?
Someday we’ll all be veggies, that’s a fairly certain bet
But I’ll leave that bit till later… cos I’m just not ready yet
Not ready yet, not ready yet, Oh we`d love to save the planet
But we’re just not ready yet
And the millions on the coastlines, their homes will disappear
But sea level rises slowly – it’ll take a good few years
And they’re mostly in the Third World, so we won’t get too wet
Oh we’d love to save the planet …. But we’re just not ready yet
And our leaders they all say it’s the economy that counts
They bury their heads in the sand as the climate problems mount
They’ll only save the planet when it’ll bring them votes
That’s politicians for you, huh?... put your fingers down your throat.
(Oh) We’ll all keep on as normal, cos things seem fine just now
But the problems just keep stacking up as we stay blind somehow
And who cares when we pay it back – just raise the carbon debt
(Oh) We’d like to save the planet…. But we’re just not ready yet
Not ready yet, not ready yet
Oh, we’d love to save the planet but we’re just not ready yet.
Our grandchildren will ask us why we’ve left them such a mess
Will we tell the truth and say we always wanted more for less
Short-sighted greed will leave us with a mountain of regret
That we didn`t save the planet… saying “we’re not ready yet”

You Just Want Power
03:52
|
|||
You spin it every way you can
You never answer straight
I watch that phoney smile of yours
As it drifts across your face
You shift your ground when anybody tries to pin you down
Honesty and truth are words you’ll never understand
Chorus: You just want power, yeah x 3
But if you get it, we’ll take you down
You’re devious and secretive
You work to your own ends
If it gets you where you want to be
You betray your friends
You think that we don’t see it, you think you hide it well
Your ego blinds your vision, you only fool yourself
Chorus
But power corrupts – you know that it’s true
It can happen to me – it will happen to you
It’ll poison your mind, it’ll cripple your soul
Watch out – The Devil is waiting if power’s your goal
You’re always making promises
You know that you can’t keep
You think it’s gonna work for you
But what you sow, you reap
You dole out your sincerity, but we all know you’re a fake
Your forked tongue spits out venom, just like a deadly snake
Optional verse (dedicated to “Pussy Riot”) about Putin
You talk of free expression
That you want it to prevail
So how come those who challenge you
All end up in jail
You fly the word “democracy” just like a flashy kite
But you’re really a dictator (what’s more, you’re full of shite)

Out To Get You
05:45
|
|||
Just look around, you’ll see them almost everywhere you go
The cameras catch everything and you don’t even know
Look out, look out don’t fool yourself, they watch you all the time
Don’t think they’re only on your case if you commit a crime
Perhaps you won’t believe it, but I’m telling you it’s true
You may think that I’m paranoid, but you haven’t got a clue!
I’ve got the angles covered, I’ve done what I can do
Maybe you should ask yourself ……. have you?
Chorus: They’re listening
They’re watching you
They’re out to get you
They’re out to get you
Out to get you
They’re out to get you
You think you’ve got your freedom cos they’re not in your face
But they’re in your phone and internet – they’ve always got you traced
There are ways to protect yourself if you could only see
They’re hidden from the masses, but you can learn from me
Perhaps you won’t believe it, but I’m telling you it’s true
You may think that I’m paranoid, but you haven’t got a clue!
I’ve got the angles covered, I’ve done what I can do
Maybe you should ask yourself ……. have you?
Chorus: They’re listening
They’re watching you
They’re out to get you
They’re out to get you
Out to get you
They’re out to get you

The Money
04:15
|
|||
He’s got a great big bonus made from gambling with our cash
He can add it to the millions in his lovely golden stash
He’s got mansions here and everywhere and chauffeur driven cars
He’s just a city trader – and times are really hard
He wants the money
They don’t pay tax in Britain ‘cos they’ve got some clever trick
That’s Starbucks, Google, Amazon – their tax advice is slick
It that was you or me, I’m sure we’d end up in the clink
They say it’s all quite legal, but morally it stinks
They want the money
They may not be the brightest sparks but they’re good with their feet
Football is their living, but like us they need to eat
A hundred grand a week? Hey wow that must be special food !
Perhaps that’s what you need to pay, to get them in the mood
They want the money
But I’m a hypocrite, and likely you are too
We wrestle with our consciences and mostly seem to lose
We buy things on the cheap, and we all want more for less
Why does this all happen? It isn’t hard to guess!
We want the money

Too Late
04:53
|
|||
You can see it now but it’s far too late
And history has thrown the dice
You threw away your values
And your conscience paid the price
You played the game we could say you won
Cos you made it to the top
But you got hooked on the drug of fame
And nothing would have made you stop
Now you think of how it could have been
And you wish you could go back
You lost yourself in the party machine
You followed someone else’s track
In the early days when you had a dream
You thought that you could change the world
You would speak with pride and passion
We could see your path unfold
Then the power men got hold of you
You became their chosen one
Your were dazzled by their promises
And your innocence was gone
You were groomed in presentation
You were polished like a gem
They said you had a gift with words
But was it you or them?
You’ve got regrets – it’s too late
Life is something you just can’t backdate
It seems as if you got caught up
On a rollercoaster ride
You lost your sense of right and wrong
You were driven by your pride
Many times we just shook our heads
When we saw you on TV
We didn’t recognise you
We all laughed “who is he?”
We watched you lose your principles
In the name of compromise
And the way you bent the truth at times
Was just like telling lies
You’ve got regrets – it’s too late
Life is something you just can’t backdate
Every crossroads that you came upon
You took the selfish road
But payback time was coming
For all the debts you owed
And in the end, they just blew you out
They’d no further use for you
You became the man of yesterday
And they moved on to someone new
Now you want to change the story
You want to go back to the start
You say you’d speak the truth, you wouldn’t hide
And you’d listen to your heart
It makes me smile to hear you talk
You always did that well
You’ve got the gift of spinning words
Maybe you can fool yourself
You’ve got regrets, it’s too late
The truth is something you can’t fabricate
And life is something you just can’t backdate

Walked Away
04:42
|
|||
I remember it well, it was a luxury hotel
With a bar made of diamonds and gold
There was Tony and George, and Maggie and Ron
And Billy with a joint he just rolled
They were sipping their drinks and having a laugh
So I thought here’s my chance to get in
There were questions that I had for all of them
But would they confess to their sins?
I went up to Maggie, she smiled and said “what can I do?”
(I said) “Give me some answers and promise that they will be true”
I asked why she made friends with torturers like Pinochet
As I watched her and waited to see just what she had to say
She walked away
Then I collared old George, put my arm on his back
And said “I think that Saddam was bad -
But I’d like to ask you if you went after him
Just to get revenge for your Dad?”
And Tony beside him was next in my aim
I wanted to ask what he knew
Did he really believe in the dossier
Or was it George turning the screw?
They smiled at each other while getting their answers prepared
I thought they’d be honest because of the God that they shared
Then George winked at Tony and whispered “Is this time to pray?”
As I watched them and waited to see just what they had to say
They walked away
Was I dreaming? Perhaps so
Was there meaning? I don’t know
Were they guilty? I think yes
On the evidence at hand that is an educated guess
Then I went up to Bill, asked him “Did you inhale?”
And was Monica good with her lips?”
He said “yes” to the first and answered the next
Saying “better with her fingertips”
He was honest and straight, so I just couldn’t wait
To meet Ronnie and get him to spill
He bought me a drink and he held my hand
But he didn’t answer like Bill
I told him I’d heard he was tired of the movies he made
That he craved after stardom, a role that would give accolades
Is that why he wanted the top job in the US of A?
As I watched him and waited to see just what he had to say
He walked away

Gangsters
05:11
|
|||
You show no mercy with your iron hand
You’re killing people all across your land
Any protest put down quick, you’re bombing houses – really sick
The people speak, you just won’t listen, you snuff out any opposition
Gangsters
You’re just gangsters
Gangsters, gangsters, gangsters
You’re killing children - you’ve gone too far
You say “not guilty”, but we know you are
The tanks are yours, the guns are yours, you’re the butchers, you’re the cause
You’re liars, murderers, despots, thieves, you’ll bring your country to its knees
Gangsters
You’re just gangsters
Gangsters, gangsters, gangsters
Gangsters Despots
Mafia Criminals
Murderers Looters
Cheats Thugs
Liars Butchers
Killers Your hands are
Animals Covered in
Thieves Blood
Gangsters oh you’re gangsters
Gangsters, gangsters, gangsters
You’re just gangsters
Prisons Heatless
Beatings Cruel
Torture Ruthless
Death Cold
That’s why Godless
People You have
Want your Sacrificed
Head Your souls
You’re just gangsters
Yeah you’re gangsters
Gangsters – you’re just gangsters
You can’t let go, you want it all
Your minds are closed, you won’t hear the calls
Your people simply want to have a say in how they live
But it’s just that kind of freedom that you’re not prepared to give
Because you’re gangsters
Gangsters, gangsters
Gangsters, you’re just gangsters

Payday Loan
05:22
|
|||
Payday Loan, Payday Loan
You’ll feel much better with a Payday Loan
Just make one little phone call – that’s really all it takes
Give us 5 or 10 minutes, and we’ll be on the make
You won’t work out the consequence, of that we’re pretty sure
And when you try to pay them back
You’ll be owing more and more (and more x 7)
Chorus: Payday Loan, Payday Loan
You’ll feel much better with a Payday Loan
Want new clothes, want a new phone
You can have it all with a Payday Loan
The interest rates will make you groan
Don’t be a sucker for a Payday Loan
They’ll drag you in the danger zone
You want to get a ripoff? Get a Payday Loan!
You know you need it, you really need it, you really need it now x 2
You don’t need it, you don’t need it, you’ll get by somehow x 2
And the politicians, huh, now what do you think they do?
They turn their backs and wash their hands and say it’s up to you
They talk of Christian values, come on now, what a laugh
If Jesus saw all this, hey man, he really would be mad
Payday Loan, Payday Loan
You’ll feel much better with a Payday Loan
The interest rates will make you groan
Don’t be a sucker for a Payday Loan
You know we care so much for you we want to help you all
You want things you can’t buy right now – come on give us a call
Our friendly staff will help you – they’ll give you what you need
And the interest rates they charge you
Now you could call that greed – it’s greed x 7
You know you really need it, you really need it now
You don’t really need it, you’ll get by somehow
You know you need it, you really need it, you really need it now
You don’t need it, you don’t need it, you’ll get by somehow
And the politicians, huh, now what do you think they do?
They turn their backs and wash their hands and say it’s up to you
There just might be a reason and this could have you stunned
The biggest Payday Lenders – they donate to Party Funds!!!
Chorus x 2
